"Penguins and Polar Bears"
The students in 1st grade listened to "Rubert Penguin" by Amye Rosenberg. We discussed the shape of a polar bear and a penguins' head and body. I demonstrated a few on the board for them. They were to add a "colorful" or "ugly sweater" to their animal. They also created a background. They used color pencil for this project and they did a great job! For the last step, the children created snowflakes with glue and added glitter, everyone's favorite!
"Gingerbread Houses"
The students created a "gingerbread" or "winter house" for their last art class before break. They drew with sharpie, added color with crayons, and most students painted the house brown and the night sky black. They turned out very cute!
